I failed. This is what I did.
In 2012, I was studying telecom engineering.
I didn’t know how to code.
I didn’t know where to start.
Honestly, I hated it.
I missed deadlines and failed programming exams.
I felt awful about it.
My classmates laughed at me. They said I’d never be a developer.
In 2018, after finishing my degree, I had a job interview at a tech company in Madrid. I saw it as a challenge.
I loved the team’s energy. I loved Madrid. I loved the project. They offered me the job, and I said yes.
I started working there on July 23, 2018.
My team supported me a lot, and my boss even helped me write my first lines of code.
After working a lot, I found out I love front-end development.
I learned everything I could. I took great courses, learned from others, and used it in my projects.
I specialized in React. There were many jobs available as a React developer and I loved the tech.
I just wanted to get better.
But it was tough.
I took a lot of courses that weren’t worth it, lots of fluff.
I had to search a lot before I found the right ones that really helped.
I worked hard.
And it worked.
The results were pretty phenomenal.
In 6 months, I got promoted.
In 2 years, I went from being bad at coding to leading a team as a senior front-end developer.
Here’s what I achieved:
- I was promoted 5+ times
- At 26, I became a team lead
- At 28, I became a front-end tech lead
- Millions of people use the projects I’ve worked on
- I’ve lead 5+ projects as a tech lead and senior front-end developer
Things took off when I focused,
Picked the right resources,
And put in the work.
No shortcuts.
Choose the right tools. Put in the effort.
There’s a lot of time and success on the line in the industry.
Their are many jobs available as a React developer.
It's a safe bet in the current front-end ecosystem.
If you want to get better at React, this is worth it for you:
