The damn remote control changed the civilized world.
Hello!
Today, we’re going to hear a story about humans.
Yes, about humans—it could be you, me, your neighbor… not your dog, though.
Although it’s funny because what we’re about to see is exactly that.
Humans are like dogs by nature.
Yes, dogs! You heard that right. At least that’s what they say in Madrid.
Maybe you’re not following along. Well, I’ll keep going anyway—it doesn’t matter to me.
In the 1950s, TVs started appearing in homes.
And back then, changing the channel was an absolute pain in the neck.
Although there weren’t many channels, there were at least two.
Every time you wanted to change the channel, you had to get up from your comfy sofa and swicth it manually.
What a hassle.
Well, actually, people didn’t even notice—it was just how things were.
It was such a pain, but since there was no other option, you just did it. End of story.
Until one clever guy—at least I assume he was—invent the remote control.
Oh! What’s that? people wondered.
And then they started using it.
And well, you probably know how the story ends.
No one, not even Peter, ever got up to change the channel from the TV again, not even if they were paid to.
That’s how it usually goes.
We like things simple, easy.
In front-end development? The same way.
It was the same with Redux—there was no other option, so we just dealt with it.
Redux everywhere.
Even if it meant filling the code with who-knows-what.
There was no other option.
Until other state managers showed up.
Until Zustand came along.
Oh! What’s that? people wondered.
And then they started using it.
If you're curious...
